Home Visits

Home visits are made by doctors and Gareth Young our Emergency practitioner usually in the middle of the day. Home visits are reserved for patients who are too ill, infirm or immobile to get to the surgery in person. Please, where possible attend the surgery so that full examinations are possible.

If you would like to request a home visit, please call the medical secretaries (01491 843200) in the morning, preferably between 8.15 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Generally speaking our GPs do not have time in their working day to travel to visit patients who fall outside our practice boundary (please refer to practice boundary tab under New Patients section of this site). If you request a visit and live outside our practice boundary we may advise you to telephone the NHS 111 service and they will be able to assess your needs and organise an appropriate clinician to visit you.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit so please only request if medically essential. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back for further information about the nature of your medical condition, to offer advice or to arrange a hospital attendance.
